JOE DUMARS' FIELDHOUSE
Joe Dumars' Fieldhouse is a 100,000 square foot recreational
facility in Shelby Township, Michigan that houses 2 professional
size roller hockey rinks, six indoor basketball courts,
five indoor volleyball courts, four outdoor illuminated
sand volleyball courts, a restaurant and sports bar and
banquet facilities. The Fieldhouse also has a 25,000 square
foot entertainment complex (The Bayou Adventure) containing
a full-scale indoor miniature golf course, climbing wall,
high ropes course, laser tag, deluxe arcade and a 5x5 basketball
court. The Fieldhouse has opened a new facility
in Detroit that will contains four indoor basketball courts.
The facility offers programs in a wide variety of sports
including basketball, baseball, soccer, football,
floor hockey, etc., and organized teambuilding events, tournaments,
corporate picnics and holiday parties, lock-ins and fieldtrips.
The athletics team organizes recreational leagues including
basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and roller hockey.
Internships are available in the following areas: athletic
operations, special events, marketing, business operations,
Bayou Adventure operations, and roller hockey operations.
SPORTS
MARKETING & FACILITY OPERATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Energetic, responsible junior/senior
or graduate level college student with marketing, business,
athletics or communications major. Strong verbal and written
communication skills. Creative and outgoing self-starter
with positive attitude. Well organized and highly dependable
with strong computer knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with marketing and sales of leagues, youth academies
and summer camps, parties and tournaments. May include designing
promotional materials, telemarketing, developing promotional
campaigns, writing press releases, and maintaining customer
database.
HOURS
REQUIRED: 20-40 hours per week.
COMPENSATION:
Housing will be provided for qualified applicants. The Fieldhouse
will provide stipend or other meal arrangements during extended
work periods. Internships are unpaid; however, opportunities
for paid shift management positions and/or control desk
staff support exist. Some colleges will offer college credit
for this program.
